The JX7* collections dissolve global and universal borders to produce lineages beyond the homogeneous. My imagery evokes my ancestry and genealogy, fusing global travels and spiritual journeys with my passion for nature, fashion, and science fiction. All characters are multiracial, gender-fluid, and celebrate ritualistic practices, ancestral arts, and the arts of the arcane, drawing inspiration from Maya, Aztec, and Zulu mythologies, as well as Buddhism, Santeria, Numerology, and Masonic traditions, to embody the spirit of universal harmony.
To create JX7*’s imagery, I challenge the technical and cultural limits of AI. While working on JX7*, I encountered biases and misinformation within current AI image processing systems that distorted the creation of images featuring people outside of Europid heritage. To solve the issue, I collaborated with an anthropology expert from University of Münster and a machine learning specialist in Berlin to achieve breakthroughs that facilitated sophisticated, transnational figures within the series.
JX7* serves as a reminder of the wealth of beauty found in our surroundings, where even in the digital realm, authenticity and relatability can shine through. As well as a nod toward the future, these images serve as an ode to all of our ancestors and the spirits that encompass our energies, whether manifested in surrealist orchids floating in water or the lush textures of urban decay. With JX7*, I extend an invitation to appreciate the wonders that make life uniquely beautiful within, around, and beyond us.
